The Story We Carry

A Biblically Grounded, Research-Informed Personal Development Workshop

“The experiences of our past become part of our story, but they do not have to define our future.”

An interactive workshop designed specifically for counselors, pastors, ministry leaders, church staff, and helping professionals who spend much of their lives caring for others—yet rarely have the opportunity to look honestly at their own stories.

Through biblical teaching, research-informed principles, and guided personal reflection, participants explore how past experiences, losses, and unresolved hurts may still be shaping the way they think, feel, relate, and serve.

01

Understanding the Story We Carry

A personal life and loss timeline surfaces the experiences, patterns, and relationships that have shaped their story — and what may have been lost along the way.

02

Identifying & Replacing False Beliefs

Taking every thought captive to Christ, participants learn to name false beliefs about themselves, others, and God — and replace them with truth from His Word.

03

Grieving, Forgiving & Releasing

Through an unsent-letter exercise, guided prayer, and teaching on forgiveness, participants put words to unresolved pain and release what they no longer need to carry.

Participants Carry Forward
  • ✦ Truth instead of lies
  • ✦ Freedom from what they no longer need to carry
  • ✦ Peace as they make room for what God wants to do in them
  • ✦ Hope for what God still has ahead

Add-On Module

Extended Workshop Option: Breaking Generational Patterns

For organizations wanting to go deeper, The Story We Carry can be expanded with an additional one-hour session exploring family-of-origin and generational patterns.

Using a guided family genogram, participants identify recurring patterns that may have been passed through generations, including control, people pleasing, perfectionism, rejection, unresolved grief, addiction, anger, and lack of boundaries.

The focus is not on blaming previous generations, but on awareness, personal responsibility, and change: recognizing what was handed down, keeping what was good, and, with God’s help, choosing what will be different moving forward.

Hi! there

I'm Kathy

I’ve always believed healing is possible—especially when we surrender what we can’t fix to the God who can. And with our part of intentional growth, and a willing heart.

As a Christian counselor/coach, ordained minister, and mother of adult children, I know firsthand the joy and heartbreak that can come with this season of parenting. After decades of working with families—and walking through my own journey of restoration—I’ve seen how God can bring beauty from brokenness and wisdom from even the hardest places.

For over 35 years, I've helped individuals and families navigate emotional wounds, strained relationships, and spiritual confusion. But the work I’m most passionate about today is helping parents like you step into a new season—where emotional maturity replaces fear, prayer replaces pressure, and peace replaces guilt.

My courses, teachings and membership are rooted in biblical truth, real-life experience, and proven tools that will strengthen your spirit, clarify your mind, and restore connection with your adult children. You don’t have to stay stuck. With God’s help, you can move forward with grace and purpose—no matter what your story has been.
