Kathy Cunningham’s ministry to parents of adult children has truly been a blessing of godly inspiration, excellent advice, and countless, incredible answers to prayer. My husband and I had raised 4 wonderful children in a close-knit Christian home, had served in music ministry together, and launched all 4 into adulthood as university graduates on their way to successful careers.... We were enjoying our happy empty nest, and were thoroughly delighting in the new season of grandparenthood with one married adult child who had blessed us with two beautiful grandchildren—one newly born.

We were completely "blind-sided" when the wall of estrangement erupted like a volcano and disrupted our family in ways we could have never foreseen. There is NOTHING that could have prepared me for the emotionally devastating, heart-breaking years of estrangement that began when our only married, beloved, adult child began hurling accusations, attacking us with intense criticism, false narratives, listing in specific detail my every (perceived) fault and flaw, ultimately going "no contact" and refusing to let his father and me see our grandchildren.

The Lord Jesus knew how much we needed help!! We prayed every night for divine intervention, and truly God answers prayer. Last fall, when Kathy appeared in my Instagram, I was touched by her delightful way of sharing her heart. I enjoyed many a morning having "Coffee with Kathy", reading her posts and listening to her pearls of godly wisdom. I joined the Grace Restored course, and found in her community that there were others going through the season of estrangement. I have loved going through her classes at my own pace, as my schedule allowed, prayerfully re-reading, re-playing parts that especially ministered to me and joining in live ZOOM sessions whenever I could. God used Kathy to teach me how to walk this difficult season of my life in new and powerful ways—and I’m still learning!!!

PRAISE THE LORD for the breakthrough!!! A few short months ago, the wicked walls of estrangement began to crumble… texts were responded to, FaceTime calls & video visits with our out of state grandchildren resumed, cards and gifts exchanged (I never stopped sending them), and finally a request to come to town for a visit (after 5 years of refusing to come see us). We recently, thoroughly enjoyed celebrating our nation’s 250th birthday and our 41st wedding anniversary together with an incredible visit with our son and his lovely wife and children.

My heart is still overflowing with gratitude to God for his incredible answers to prayer—and those include Kathy Cunningham. Thanks, Kathy, for sharing your life’s journey, your experience, your maturity in Christ, and your passion for helping the parents and grandparents of adult children going through extremely difficult life seasons. I still have a lot to learn, but praise God, I am on my way. May God continue to guide you and use you powerfully in this life-changing ministry. Blessings Always.

I am currently walking through what many call the sandwich years. I am caring for my 86-year-old mother and also dealing with an adult child that is struggling with addiction problems.... My sister had sent me a link to an Instagram post from Kathy Cunningham that was very helpful for a situation I was dealing with with my mother. Unbeknownst to me, as I reviewed some of her posts, I found even more information that supported me in dealing with my son‘s addiction troubles, and how to best help him.

On top of that, the first two months of programming were dealing with addiction and codependency, which are both issues I’m being challenged with. Some may say it was coincidence, but I truly believe it was God working in my life. These past several months have changed my outlook on myself, my mother, and my son. Every lesson, guest speaker, and Instagram post has spoken directly to me, and I will be forever grateful for this group. It’s awesome to have a place to go to share your thoughts and feelings with others going through the same struggles and gain such incredible insight.

I have been struggling with everything that Kathy talks about in her sessions—from adult children wanting space to ignoring me, addiction of my son to drugs, to difficult daughters-in-law relationships, to not often being able to see my grandchildren. Kathy has helped me in so many ways by me just staying tuned to her "Coffee with Kathy".... I cannot begin to describe how spot on her advice has been. Thank you with all my heart.

Kathy is a very kind, compassionate, and wise encourager to parents of adult children. Her teachings are always supported by findings from studies and comforting, hope-filled scriptures. I always read her postings and try to attend her Zoom classes when I can.

Before finding Kathy, I felt strained and heartbroken with my relationship with my adult daughter. My girls are my greatest treasure, and as we seemed to be growing farther apart, I didn’t know what to do.... I felt like a fish out of water. Grace Restored is life-changing for my thoughts, words, and actions! I experience a new, deeper level of peace!... The teachings and resources are encouraging, applicable, and actionable. I've learned that I can only control myself. So, I work to heal myself and deepen my relationship with God.

I've learned that acceptance does not mean approval. I've learned the power of the pause, prayer, and a deeper trust in God. The gift of community reminds me that I am not alone. Kathy is amazing, hands down. My daughter was struggling with life in general, anxiety and depression.... It was running my life and was the barometer for my overall happiness. I found Kathy on instagram and joined her membership. She opened my eyes, more so, God opened my eyes to not just my daughter changing (which is not mine to carry as she is an adult) to making changes within myself.

It’s been a year, and I feel lighter, stronger in my faith, and my daughter is doing much better now that I respect her decisions, give her to God, because I know He can reach her where I cannot. I am so thankful for Kathy, she’s given me the tools to handle situations with my daughter. Our relationship is closer in a different way now, respectful, and I’ve learned to support her, love her, without carrying what is not mine to carry.

I'm new to the community and have been following Kathy for a few years online. Her sincerity, focus and bible references have given me hope that I can make it thru this horrible, sad, lonely experience.... With Kathy and this community, I have a shred of hope. Ever since I joined, my relationship with my two adult daughters has blossomed. I cannot express how much Seed of Hope transformed me to have a much healthier relationship and enjoy our time together.

I am so thankful that God led me to this community and resource when I was struggling in my relationship with my adult child whose experience with addiction left me so sad. Through this I found godly teaching in the course dealing with addiction.... Kathy’s wisdom and personal experiences she shared gave me hope and real guidance on how to navigate this difficult season. I love being able to access the lessons, the community and the support at any time.

I was not prepared for the changes that came when my youngest got married nine months ago. We had always been very close, and while I knew our relationship would naturally change, I wasn’t prepared for just how much it would change—or how deeply those changes would affect me.... Around that same time, I came across some Instagram reels from Kathy Cunningham. She was putting words to so much of what I was feeling but hadn’t been able to articulate for myself. I felt understood and hopeful that there might be a healthier way forward, so I decided to become a Grace Restored member. Kathy often reminds us that change must begin with us, and she provides so many practical tools to help us begin that process. I now have a binder full of PDF guides that I have worked through, including, Codependency, Building Bridges: Healthy Communication with Your Adult Children, and Becoming a Calm, Steady, Emotionally Mature Parent, to name just a few.

The monthly Zoom calls with other members have also been incredibly valuable. They give us an opportunity to reinforce what we are learning, share our struggles, and work through them together. The monthly guest speakers add another layer of insight, allowing us to explore each theme from different perspectives and continue growing in our understanding. While my relationships with my adult children still have their challenges, I can see a difference in myself. When I apply what I am learning, my responses and perceptions come from a healthier, more grounded place. I am spending less mental and emotional energy feeling offended or hurt and more time focusing on becoming the person God has in mind for me in this new season of life.

What I am learning has extended beyond my relationships with my adult children into other areas of my life as well. I am beginning to experience a greater sense of freedom and confidence as I learn to let go of what I cannot control and take responsibility for what I can—my own growth, responses, and choices. For someone who is on the fence, I would say that Grace Restored is not about learning how to change your adult children. It is about allowing God to change you—and discovering the freedom that comes when you begin relating to the people you love from a healthier place.

Having a community and resources to help me learn more about my role as a parent and how to grow in this area has been very helpful. This is a safe place and Kathy offers helpful parenting tools from a Christian perspective to navigate difficult issues.

The service Kathy provides is much more than I can put into words. She has helped me through some difficult times and helped me to let go of so much hurt and pain from the past concerning my extended family.... By using the tools she provides, I’ve been able to establish boundaries and learn what a healthy relationship is for me. I didn’t realize sometimes we need to learn what is healthy for us, set boundaries and protect our own peace to be able to move past the hurt.

Working with Kathy and being a part of Grace Restored has changed my life in so many ways. I am now able to have a relationship with my extended family on my terms and what’s healthy for me that includes boundaries. I started following Kathy on Instagram because I have a 26-year-old son who has walked away from his faith and has two kids that he is not doing life with. I am hoping to find community of support and other believers who are trusting the Lord through our children’s choices.

Grace Restored has been a Godsend for me during a challenging time in my life. For months I felt alone in grief and anxiety related to adult children and grandparenting issues.... A friend sent me a couple of Kathy’s videos which prompted me to go to the Hope Restored website. There I found the opportunity to participate in the membership.
